Alan Spears Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Wow. It is amazing to think that back then,that was considered the future of aviation. Imagine lying in the takeoff position,starting the engine and then opening the throttle till it slowly overcame gravity. Horrifying to think of an engine failure after take off. At least with a horizontal takeoff there is some choice of what to hit.
