willedoo Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Looks like the dollar bottom line is starting to bite. One of the options the Royal Canadian Air Force is looking at would see fighter pilots spending equal time in simulators and real flying. http://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/future-canadian-fighter-pilots-to-split-simulator-and-real-world-training-time-1.1141366
mnewbery Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 He said real-world training exercises, using a series of jets pitted against once another, are expensive, and increase the risk of an adversary monitoring and evaluating pilots ... or stealing parts off the crashed aircraft. I think nothing will replace the noise, the heat, the smell and all of the other senses that the people on the outside of the aircraft experience during exercises. Not sure a simulator is going to help that
