onetrack Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 ......, as soon as Turbo stated "2.5kg", CT was on the phone to his electrical supplier, ordering "406 kms of 2-strand, 600V cable! - and hurry up with the delivery!" (NES readers should note: It's 406kms or 205 air miles from DG to FI. However, electrical cable can't be ordered in NM lengths, so CT had to do a quick conversion). As almost an afterthought, CT added, "And two 32A plugs, too, while you're at it!". After a couple of minutes of holding the line, the electrical supplier came back with the bad news - demand for 600V extension leads had rocketed since the word got out that electric power was going to become "de rigeur" as motive power. Many people had decided they weren't going to miss out, when demand hit a peak for long extension cords, so they'd got in early. Turbo became depressed. This wasn't the news he wanted to hear. Turbo was employed to teach all AUF members his speedway skills. For those whipper snippers in the NES audience, Speedway is a last century event that nobody is interested to attend any more, where the audience paid good money to sits drinking sugary liquid or VB and eating some sort of food that has been fried to within an inch of its life, while being pelted with rocks and covered in dust plus sometimes also inundated with soil soaked in old carcinogenic sump oil. The result is that trike undercarriage AUF aircraft could be slid around the DG runway corner like Al Unser in his Offy, while tail dragger pilots were taught to only ground loop to the left. "We are also about to introduce 2-way operations for AUF aircraft at DG International, just to add a bit more interest" said CT (what a ct) "And it will have a similar effect to the old figure 8 demolition derbies". But then CT received a registered letter which again outlined the precious historic significance of the area to the Yelpa Yelpa (respects etc) and the fact that the religious connotations of the 5 rivers and of the Rainbow Bunny which drank from each stream, meant that the Yelpa elders would do whatever it takes to fight all the way to the Supreme Court and to the House of Lords (even though they are aware that Turbo had been elevated to the HOL in 2010). Various Aunties and Uncles appeared on the ABC and in the Turnbull Times to make it absolutely clear to the Australian people as to the sacred preciousness of the DG region and also of the sacred burial mounds spread throughout the area. Basically the entire area is so meaningful to the Yelpa and is akin to how Jerusalem is to the Christians, Jews and Muslims, and as a result the Aussie people spoke in hushed tones about DG. However the Yelpa then wrote a separate letter to the DG Progress Association to again make the point about the uniqueness and preciousness of the area ........... but if the DGPA and DG International Airport & Container Terminal (the DGI&CT) would pay a reasonable annual license fee to the Yelpa then the entire joint could be bulldozed in whatever way the DGPA felt fit.
