Edison screw (ES) screws to the right, so does SES (Small Edison Screw, MES. (Memory Edison Screw is different).

Mr Admin, You forgot the one who changes the subject matter completely and steers the thread in a totally different direction.

 

BTW, did you know the the GAF Jindivik target towing drone had an Edison screwed flash bulb mounted on its launching trolley? When it went off it told the controllers the craft was airborne. I do wonder if the Jindivik still holds the record as Australia’s most produced home grown airframe? Maybe Jabiru’s taken that title by now?

My generation was taught to be very proud of the Jindivik- proof that Aussies could build aeroplanes.

During WW2 we built a wide range of aircraft and aircraft engines, including fully-locally-built Beauforts, and Australian-built P&W R1830's.

All that had pretty much ended until we started assembling imported fighter jets.

 

The Jindivik was a unique export success.
