Hi Rene, that is a lot of history covered in such a short flight.  The forts are interesting.  From the fact there is not much structure left I'm guessing that they were mostly wooden.

Hi Peter. It's a lot of history packed in a small country that happens to be in the strategic river delta of the Rhine and Meuse.

 

The Defense line of Amsterday forts are concrete structures with an earth layer on the side facing where the enemy would come from. They are still there, although most of them not open to the public.
