Guest sirius Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 This pertains to the Chinamans Gap helicopter accident, but given the ultralight activity in the area it is worth reading. http://www.mckeown.com.au/articles/power-company.htm
poteroo Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 What a Pandoras' Box this case has opened, and it's probably not over yet. Perhaps there's merit in having a power utility be obligated to hang markers on every span which is more than a certain height.....200 ft perhaps? Having these marked on your WAC might be worthwhile - but are you reading a WAC while negotiating poor visibility at well below 500agl ? I hope not! In any case, by the time a WAC is re-printed, the new line could have been in existence for several years.
Guest sirius Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 In this case it appears that both the span and height were the matters in question.
