rhtrudder Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 Is it possible to fly into controlled airspace in a 24 rego under a RPL if the radio and altimeter is certified, I heard is was but not sure , thinking of getting my RPL just for this reason
kgwilson Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 You will also need a Transponder, Mode C minimum.
rhtrudder Posted November 3, 2019 Author Posted November 3, 2019 Your right, forgot the transponder, how much to fit one .
KRviator Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 Pretty sure all new transponders need to be Mode-S, so about $3000 for the box maybe $500 for an encoder, and $1000 or so to fit, depending on how complex your installation will be.
djpacro Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 google found this https://members.raa.asn.au/storage/cta-faqs.pdf which, as I expected, states that it requires more than just an RPL.
440032 Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 No transponder required in Class D tower CTA..... so says AIP, eg Albury, Mooorabbbbin... numerous others.
giantkingsquid Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 I think with an RPL you’ll also need CTA, CTR and Flight Radio endorsements. 1
