It's O.K., he's still in the learning phase - and you need substantial and obvious physical warnings to other learners, who might be considering indulging in risky piloting behaviour.  :cheezy grin:

Jerry, trees are not normally the accepted parking area for aircraft. But after seeing how some people park their cars, maybe trees are seen by some, as an acceptable parking area option, when the specified aircraft parking area is full.  :cheezy grin:

I don't know how they did it but it seems perfectly placed. Be hard to see in Summer though unless the whole exercise killed the tree.

KG, I don't think the tree has died, the photo was probably taken in Winter in America, and the vast majority of American trees are deciduous. All the trees in the background appear to have shed their leaves.

A glider pilot, under instruction, dropped into a tree (vertically) near Paraparaumu ( now Kapiti ) airport,

 

I suspect crosswind, then stall & dive. No one injured, Happily.

 

But a great sight, before retrieval.
