onetrack Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 It's O.K., he's still in the learning phase - and you need substantial and obvious physical warnings to other learners, who might be considering indulging in risky piloting behaviour.
Jerry_Atrick Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 I would call that precision flying - look how well it is parked...
onetrack Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 Jerry, trees are not normally the accepted parking area for aircraft. But after seeing how some people park their cars, maybe trees are seen by some, as an acceptable parking area option, when the specified aircraft parking area is full.
kgwilson Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 I don't know how they did it but it seems perfectly placed. Be hard to see in Summer though unless the whole exercise killed the tree.
onetrack Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 KG, I don't think the tree has died, the photo was probably taken in Winter in America, and the vast majority of American trees are deciduous. All the trees in the background appear to have shed their leaves.
Thruster88 Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 What really happened and why flying at night is a bad idea. http://www.check-six.com/Crash_Sites/PlaneInATree-N6487J.htm 1 1

spacesailor Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 A glider pilot, under instruction, dropped into a tree (vertically) near Paraparaumu ( now Kapiti ) airport, I suspect crosswind, then stall & dive. No one injured, Happily. But a great sight, before retrieval. spacesailor
