Hi Everyone,

So, I have been ‘grounded’ for months while my flying school awaits its new aircraft:-(.  Getting bored not flying, so I thought maybe to try using a flight simulator for LSA.  Not interested in complex stuff, not wanting to fly a 747 etc.

I have joystick and rudder hardware and a good spec PC.

Any ideas appreciated:-)

Cheers,

Jack.

Good for some things (like circuits entry, calls procedures etc). Probably won't help your landings unless you have a full motion full vis . It's a good AID. It's not an aeroplane. Go for it but use it for what it's best for. Nev

Google up flight sims,

when I was training on a Tecnam I had a sim program for Microsoft Flight Simulator X of a Tecnam P92 Eaglet and found it really good.

Helped me to get orientated with where things were in the aircraft, practice circuits and radio calls. It may not be that authentic but is a cheap way to practice the basics.

Hopefully you can find a sim for your training aircraft on Ants Aeroplanes.

I'm waiting for the smoke to clear. The instructors are taking a well-earned beak from the summer weather and I won't be flying GA solo for a few more hours.

Anyone near Cootamundra or Goulburn who wants to take me for a fly in a Drifter or a Thruster, I am all ears (and cash)

So, they sold the old plane months before the new one was due to arrive? And they only had one plane to begin with? Wow. It would be nice if they could borrow a local Vixxen/Foxbat for a while. Maybe you could travel to a different club for a while. I assume that you don't feel like flying GA in Rocky for a while? If you want to fly out of Rockhampton itself, you will need a GA licence?

I am training at Coffs Harbour and they only have 1 LSA and a couple of Microlights,  my requirements at the time was the training plane had to have a BRS fitted which was the case for their Vixxen.  I believe their new Sting 2000 won’t arrive until sometime in March ‘20, so In the interim I thought a FS might help keep my hand in:-)

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and will look into them to start with.

Cheers,

Jack.
