God I miss those airbrakes. The Jab170 just floats and floats. I know before you all crucify me I need to keep my approach speed around 65knots over the fence. Airbrakes are still really nice to have.

The flaps used to work better. About 18 months ago the factory came out with an edict reducing the max flap angle.

Tell me about it!!! Every time I come onto final I wish I was still had airbrakes! Its obviously just a case of not trying to fly the j170 like a glider, but sometimes I just wish I could :P

What is 1.3 times the full flap stall speed of the J170? If it is 52 knots it appears you may be having to wait for 8 knots to wash off while you are in ground effect. Being within one wing span of the ground gives something like a 30% reduction in drag thereby increasing the time it takes for excess speed to wash off. Do you really need 65 knots over the fence?

My impression during early training in a J170 is that it has a LOT of wing for 80hp... it likes to be "on step" to fly... ?

Another "'Cause I like the photo", but I like the story with it...(Not aviation related, but a laugh)

Numbers shaved into quadruplets' hair

Can they do that to an entire population???spacer.png spacer.png

By the looks of this article it would appear that there is some basis to that old western statement "They all look the same".
