Paul davenport
I Must be getting bored but here goes (blame it on Covid) Show us your hanger, where you keep your pride and joy. Given the opportunity would you like to live in your hanger ?. I am fortunate to live on acres and have my strip and hanger only 20 meters away. Here’s my hanger, not the flashest but it keeps the elements off my pride and joys

Don’t want to bore others even though we get to talk aerofoils and tail sections. Bruce.... I’m going to steal the rail system idea. So much less span. So much less worry about hangar rash. Thruster88
Thruster...new zero turn mower now there should be something to mow! Where do you keep the ultralight? Yes there is plenty of mowing, a perfect start to the season. The Thruster lives in another shed, at my previous farm they both shared the same hangar for 15 years without any problem.? it is good to have two aircraft that love me.

kgwilson
Kevin I'm intrigued about that central bit; is that a tilt-up door? No it is just hinged at the top. The inverted V chain on the front is connected via a stainless cable and pulleys at the top of the kingpost at the front and at the rear of the hangar to a bucket filled with concrete as a counterweight. 1
Mike Gearon
Kevin I'm intrigued about that central bit; is that a tilt-up door? Yes... that’s very clever. I’m also interested in what look like wing pockets/ wing receivers/ wing cupboards (hangered if I know what you’d call them) in the other picture
kgwilson
Yes... that’s very clever. I’m also interested in what look like wing pockets/ wing receivers/ wing cupboards (hangered if I know what you’d call them) in the other picture Yes those connections between the 2 fuselage sheds are wing covers. There were originally 2 gliders in the double T. One had a high wing and one had a low wing so they overlapped in the middle wing cover. To put the gliders in the hangar, first you open the 2 front fuselage shed doors and then the side doors on the fuselage sheds that open down and outwards and finally the wing cover doors open down and outwards also. You can see the side door open of the right fuselage shed in the photo. It has a leg that it stands on when open and the wing cover door sits on top of the side door when open. The hangar was quite dilapidated and the left wing cover door had already fallen off. Basically I just paid for the concrete slabs and colorbond trimdek which I re-used in the rebuild. The rest I got as a house lot of hail damaged colorbond for $400.00. It hardly had any dents in it & was only 2 years old. I just had to put silicon in all the screw holes that were in the wrong place. Edited May 2, 2020 by kgwilson
Paul davenport
Mine was originally a hay shed which fell over in a stiff breeze ? I had purchased 44 hectares and conveniently the shed was just round the corner. I made myself a promise that if I could rebuild the hanger I would build a house . I now live in a straw bale house with a hanger 20 meters away 7
dan tonner
I currently have a wood arch, white fabric roof hangar with a roll-up fabric door. I used lots of polycarbonate on the front and back walls and get lots of natural light. Because there may be a move required in the future, I'm looking for something simpler. I've been toying with designing/building a T-Hangar by combining a 40' and 20' container with most of the side cut out of the 40' - again with a fabric roll-up door. I'd love to get the pros and cons from anyone who has already done something like this. C
