30th / 31st May. . . Absolutely deserted airfield.

Nobody working on un-locking down aircraft,. . . Weather Beautiful. . . no occasional visitors . . .only three volts used on the Hand held radio. . .

Most Odd. for one of the (Formally) busiest LSA airfields in the County. . .

Old mate phoned to ask If Id fly with him in his new toy ( A Eurofox ) I said, Sadly mate. . .NO. I'm not current for one. . .and I've never flown the type for two ( Not that the second bit wold have stopped me. . .as it is very similar to a Kitfox, but with a bloody Nose wheel)

So. . .. Altogther, a very sad weekend MIND YOU .. Eldest Daughter has invited me to a BBQ in her back garden on June 2nd, since the Govt. have now relaxed some of their rules to allow this, AND that it is also my Seventieth birthday too. . .. and ( I gather ) that I shall be allowed to consume unlimited Alcoholic comestibles all day . . .

Whatz not to ;like a lot . . .?

Although she baulked at allowing my Old Mate Neville (Ex SAS ) to parachute into the garden and have a pint. . .

Neville God Bless him,. . was one of the original developers of the' HALO' jump. But died in 1996. . .

Taught himelf to fly a Flexwing Microlight in an afternoon,. . .and then found his way 50 miles to Our airfield,. . .here e were having a barbecue in the fog. . . . They just don't make them like that anymore.

Many happy returns for your 70th, squire..

Glad to hear you will be spending it with family, even if distanced by 2m (these Aussie whimps can only cough 1.5 metres, it appears ;-))

"Handling charge" - $655. Don't you just love "non-specific" charges? Talk about "nickel and dime ya".

And $147 for PARKING? They're not operating an airport, they're operating a superbly profitable carpark, with an airport as a sideline.

I shipped an aircraft seat in from Germany once. The freight cost was bad enough, but on top of that I got a full A4 list of charges totalling almost $900 to get it released from Brisbane airport. And that was with no customs duty.

lol. You should have seen how much fun it was to bring in a 40ft container containing:

1 houshold full of furniture - some a few hundred years old and mostly wood

5 ultralight aircraft - 1 that has been exported from OZ and was returning, 3 that had been de-registered from my name OS and 1 part built overseas and coming with me.

Felt like weight of paperwork = container before relased ... and of course cough up well north of $10k in 'import duties and taxes'

PLUS pay another $8k for the inspectors to unpack and repack the container ... everything came out in bond store then went back into the container

PLUS pay the daily charge for the bond store.

The only thing they did was re-do a tyre spray disinfection on the wheels of everything ... and they charged extra for that 'service' even though I had to have that done overseas to get it into the container AND had to provide the certifiate to prove it with the paperwork.

Just as well I already owned the container or the rental excess on the container would have added a few thousand $$ more.

Next time I immigrate I will be having a big sale.

When we moved back to Aus we went with a service that provided an all in cost. About half was the landing fees and duties...

I apparently over did the Birthday cake on the evening of the 2nd June,. . .this ended up with a visit from the Doctor and an ambulance ride to the heart & lung unit for a week or so.

Had an angiogram followed by Angioplasty, to stent one of the cardiac blood vessels. May have to return in future to have ongoing as an 'out' patient.

I managed to escape from the hospital on Wednesday evening just gone, feeling rather sore and sorry. BUT Glad to be still here.

Yes hang around. Only the good die young. You will need follow up to determine the extent of damage to heart muscles. You might also have to look after yourself better. (shock Horror). I even gave up Gourmet Meat Pies and smoking so anything's possible . Good luck cobber. Nev

Blimey - welcone back to the land of the living - glad to have you back! Take it easy squire - want a few more years out of you, yet. Not enough pommies on here, as it is!

Thanks Nev, . . . I feel cheated, gave up he smokes six years back ! . . .saved some cash though.. . hoe I don't have to give up Asian Curries, . . .the Doctors told me that there was no real reason that I should,. . but both being from India, they could have been biased !

Currently having to get used to my new daily medication regime, ie. Eight assorted pills & capsules and a good slug of laxative. . . .

will have to leave it for a while to consume my 70th birthday gifts, which included some Vodka. Sloe Gin and Cava, as these arrived two days before the hospital jobbie. . .

Jolly dee. . . .

Eat plenty of fruit and veges and you won't need any laxative. Too much of that and you'll get cramps. The statins may give you leg pain when you lie on the same side for too long. Nev
