red750 Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 This film has been around a long time, but many may not have seen it. (Takes a few seconds to load). Old Pathe news clip
marshallarts Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 Mind-boggling. At no stage is she tied on anywhere! That is one gutsy lady. 1
onetrack Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 I often wonder where they found a woman with that kind of foolhardiness in her nature, to carry out that stunt without even a parachute! There's no woman that I know, that would carry out that task, due to their naturally risk-averse natures. They might do it to save a child, but not simply as a barnstorming stunt. 2
facthunter Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 Female Parachutists I've met seemed less afraid than many of the blokes. They are all mad but I must have been even more mad as I didn't have a chute. Nev 1
Flightrite Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 'Twas on bookface the other day, entertaining. Imagine doing that these days with our 'soft' law makers??
facthunter Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 They had to do such events for real then. (No digital nonsense) No doubt it was extensively rehearsed (on the ground) but you wouldn't want to slip, eh! Nev
Marty_d Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 I'm just intrigued as to how they handled the logistics there. Did someone hiding in the rear seat actually remove that wheel mid-flight in order for the stunt to happen?
pmccarthy Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 And check the various camera positions each requiring a camera man
Old Koreelah Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 ...There's no woman that I know, that would carry out that task, due to their naturally risk-averse natures... I disagree, OT; I've come across a number of women in caving, climbing and motorcycling who had less fear than most of us. I hope my 7year old grand daughter never sees this clip, because she would try it. Since she could crawl she has gone for altitude. You know how a baby learns to talk from repetition? When asked what her name was, she replied "get down!" 1 2
facthunter Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 Good point Marty but they could have just used a dolly on that side that fell way on lift off.. Nev 1
