OK Folks

A dumb question from a technophobe luddite here. What do I need to link my telephone into my headset so that I can take/make phone calls while flying?

Im not somebody who's joined at the hip with my phone, but on a long cruise It seems like a good time for a chat. Also, good for me to call ahead to the home base if incoming.

Any link to the device I need would be much appreciated!

Alan I've tried to use my phone in long trips by having Apple earbuds under my headset. Only partially successful due to my high cabin noise levels.

Newer headsets tend to support Bluetooth, so it should be easy to connect your phone.

You need a bluetooth capable headset and bluetooth capable phone.

For me it's the ANR and music that keeps me sane on long flights.

Bluetooth enabled headset I use Lightspeed Zulu3 and it works... the only issue is there needs to be a delay between them talking and you talking... you have to wait a few seconds and not just start talking the instance they stop. Other then that it works fine.

KISS - I just , put my very simple (non i phone ) phone on loudspeaker & tuck it between my headset cup & ear - works a treat! Just purchased a new "old fart phone" haven't tried to use it the way the old one worked - will let you know.

Don't do it. I have Bose A20's with blue tooth it works but having the phone ringing in your ear while turning final or in the fair is very distracting. I have stopped using mine at all while flying.

The enviroment is a bit to noisy for much of a chat.

Pushing one button to disconnect bluetooth is a bit hard I guess......

But I agree for those that only fly circuits, there's not much point.....

You have to hold it for about 3 sec and remember to do it. When you have your hand on the stick and one on the throttle you won't have time to deal with the phone. I use my phone to play music thru my headset but I always set it for Do Not Disturb. The last thing you want when flying a complex A/C on your own is distractions at the wrong time. There was a wheels up a few years ago with a Government minister's charter plane when the pilots phone rang at the wrong time.
