Old Koreelah Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 Perhaps it’s the same aircraft that was on display a few years back at OzFly. It had a neat Smart engine.
Downunder Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 I have re-checked and apparently it was not a Jab, but an FK aircraft. Ooops, my bad. The FK at Serpintine flys well with this engine. At sea level a 912 uls has more performance but at altitude the turbo smart engine out performs. Unfortunately this model engine is getting dated and parts are getting harder to find, especially in Aus. Finding "good" parts out of europe and reasonable shipping costs is hard. 1
marshallarts Posted September 5, 2020 Author Posted September 5, 2020 Ah, so it is the turbo engine - I thought that was the most likely candidate. Not surprised to hear that parts are getting difficult to come by. Also interesting to hear it is one of the Serpentine fleet.
Jim McDowall Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 Apparently an STC was raised for LSA55 to install 912. see https://www.casa.gov.au/files/208-1pdf
