Guest rxbrumby Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 To follow on from my previous thread, today I also took my wife Sharon for her first nav trip. It was the first time that she has flown with me, and only her second flight in a small aircraft. The first was a 20 min joyflight in a Waco biplane owned by Adelaide Biplanes. We headed out from Aldinga to finniss where there is a private strip right on the finniss river. The lucky owner has a runway that goes almost right up to his front door, and is literally 50 meters from the river. There is also a cross strip there for when the usual south westerlies blow up during spring/summer around herethumb_down. After circling around there to allow sharon to look at the extremely low water levels in the murray river, we headed towards Myponga Dam. They were thowing meat bombs(parrachutists) out at Goolwa, so we did a slight diversion to keep plenty of clearance. After arriving at Myponga Dam and checking out the water level there, we then headed out to Myponga Beach and turned north along the coast. We followed along the coast to the Onkapringa river mouth and checked out the scenery. we then turned back south to get back to Aldinga. Here are some photos Sharon snapped along the way.
Deskpilot Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Re 4th photo of coastline. I used to live, one road back from the beach just out of shot at bottom right. Sharon must have enjoyed that flight, all cuddled up with you in the front cockpit, yes people, it's made for two. Thing is, did she enjoy the latest flight in your, MUCH smaller plane. Guess she didn't hit her head on the canopy like I did when I tried it for size. Safe and happy flying mate,
Guest rxbrumby Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Here are some more pictures from the trip. Sharon was fascinated by being so close to the clouds, as you can probably tell from this set of photos.
