Marty_d Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 On now (ABC TV) - hopefully they'll repeat it. Just saw some warbirds - Mustang, Spits, Wirraway, Catalina, DC3, etc etc - plus 3x F35, standard Hornets, Super Hornets, Growler, KC-35's, C-17's, now showing Roulettes. Fantastic day in Canberra by the looks of it - wish I was on the banks of Burley Griffin watching! 1 1
onetrack Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 ABC news item ... https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-03-31/100-year-anniversary-royal-australian-air-force-marked-flyover/100040006
Thruster88 Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 The whole team from Lachlan Valley Aviation traveled down to see it. Was a great day out. Beautiful setting on the lake. 1 1
walrus Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 Pity the rest of AUstralia - whose taxes pay for the RAAF, don't get to see the display.....just the leeches in Canberra. 1
facthunter Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 Parliament is not sitting. Hardly anyone would know what those planes were. Services People and Flags are used for creating a backdrop for grandstanding and looking "Official" and "In Control" when the next chapter of the Canberra Bonkhouse Bubble and Coronavirus for the Masses, comes on.. Canberra is (in)FAMOUS all over the world. Everyone takes a go who wants a go. . Nev
kgwilson Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 Yes the Australian political system should be a beacon to be revered but instead it is almost everything that is wrong with the democratic system at about the same level as the USA. With the graft and corruption no wonder democracy is in decline worldwide. I see that there were 4 of the latest multi $billion lemons flying in formation there. Rumours are that pilots hate the F35s, the jack of all trades and master of none.
facthunter Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 it's really not in the same league as the USA but there are some similarities and plenty of reasons to wish for better and try to get it.. We are ranking lower and lower in many important indicators that connect with Quality of Lifestyle and individual satisfaction compared with other Countries. Vilifying certain sections or groupsto gain support for Discriminating Policies is not the way to GO. Politicise something and it is never dealt with properly. Nev
Marty_d Posted April 3, 2021 Author Posted April 3, 2021 Wow, that went sideways fast. It was just about the planes for me, and let's face it, if it's happening anywhere else in Aus but your place, you don't get to see them live anyway. 3
spacesailor Posted April 3, 2021 Posted April 3, 2021 I was surprised that the Spitfire, flew one year before the CAC Wirraway. spacesailor
red750 Posted April 3, 2021 Posted April 3, 2021 My wife recorded the telecast of the flyover on Ch 2 - may have missed a couple of minutes at the start. Will burn it to a DVD.
