jackc Posted June 8, 2021 Posted June 8, 2021 However his flying expertise was highly respected in WWII, and his community contributions for the disabled, after that war…… Rules or no rules……he got stuff done 🙂 1 1

You might be surprised by the number who fly around everywhere(not just over their own properties) without a licence. And probably not be surprised at the number who have the licence but fly without a medical Edited June 9, 2021 by Jaba-who
facthunter Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 If you disobey the rules you might find you don't have a leg to stand on in court, later. With the current "Strict Liability" situation if you come to grief you are in the $#it in any case. YOU chose to fly.. Nev

A pilot was spending more than $2000 per year every for all the CASA required medicals, tests etc etc they deemed he had to have every year. So he said bugger it I’m gonna fly anyway so he did and he got to 6 years of flying before he got sprung. CASA took him to court and he got fined $6000. He was happy he got 6 years flying for half the price. As far as I know he stopped then anyway because he felt his flying days were over anyway. In an odd sort of way everyone ended up happy! 2 1
facthunter Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 (edited) The leg to stand on was really about Bader.. who at least was a bit of a show pony. Surveillance Radar is being reduced as a cost cutting measure. Flying "management " is not a pilot centered activity to any great extent. ie It's not done for their benefit . One or two more grounded makes it look as though "someone" is doing a job. IF they get you in their sights they can be very persistent and at times very happy to go to Court where their DEEP POCKETS will exceed yours.. Nev Edited June 9, 2021 by facthunter
jackc Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 Maybe a good Aviation lawyer would be handy in a persons contact list, pissing CASA off is not a good idea!
planedriver Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 Just remembered who told me the story about the young fellah who flew solo in a Tiger Moth to get training for an actual flying licence. It was the late Rod Hay from Katoomba who many will remember. Lovely guy and sadly missed by many. We shared lot's of laughs one weekend at a Narromine event.
