The list continues……. States and Federal Govts arguing with each other….. It seems to me that the Ruby Princess debacle, was the first sign (to the public at large) that the Federal Government was/had not been discharging its responsibilities for National boarder bio security. In delegating this important role to the States , we had/have every State putting its own interpretation on what department would be responsible and what those responsibilities & powers might be - in short no he National approach that any sane logical person might expect. So in the case of NSW/Ruby Princess the responsible agency was, sort of, the Department of Agriculture (go figure). I can only assume that because Agriculture tends towards monitoring animal/plant pests that someone in their wisdom that adding human pathogen surveillances/control was the way to go - they were wrong! Agriculture dis not have/understand its role, powers (if any) or the chain of command (absent). I assume that every other nation has its boarder security (customs/immigration/bio,financial/threat /law security) under the one organisation or at least its front line (the uniformed people at the boarder) team - not so Au 1 2

Our slow vaccination start was obviously known right from the start but Scomo chose to lie by big noting himself about the millions of doses he'd secured and everyone would be fully vaccinated by October. Then he said shipments had been delayed. Total BS he never even had a delivery schedule when making those big noting announcements. NZ had an equally slow vaccination start but it was based on supply not orders and their top priority was all front line workers. There is a plan and they were at 100 to 102% of the plan from the start with all front line workers vaccinated before Delta arrived. We are at the bottom of the world with small populations and at the time were almost Covid free. The Vaccine producers were in the Covid ravaged places in the heavily populated Europe and N America. Obviously that is where the priority for vaccine delivery was going to be but don't let reality get in the way of self promotion. Then start changing advice almost daily when a side effect issue appears, blow it out of all proportion with the press sow the seeds of fear in sectors of the public & then try to remove all that. A lot of people used to call Trump a F***ing moron, now we have one. Now that NSW & Victoria have admitted defeat on controlling the virus the Pollies have unsurprisingly changed tune again. Aren't we doing well with the vaccination numbers. Don't mention front line workers, exhausted paramedics, Emergency Room and ICU staff as well as inadequate facilities. Agree KG - however I am not so sure about "admitted defeat on controlling the virus" - this seems to me to be a deliberate failure (could any Gov be so incompetent by accident) to implement timely and appropriate controls. The aim to open the nation to international movement ASAP, probably due to pressure from big business interests, pursuing the almighty dollar, who dont give a fig for the impact this policy may have on our people. 2

Thankfully that that is still true of Australian politics, but for how long? Too much American madness is being imported. Our society is being riven by misinformation, much of it coming from the US. Scomo and his backers are obviously closely following the Republican playbook to secure future control of this country; the Murdoch empire is spreading its tentacles to ensure that. The recent spreading of free Fox “News” to rural Queensland media is clearly aimed at ensuring those electorates remain firmly under the control of the LNP. 2 2 1
turboplanner Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 (edited) This is Australia's Covid-19 Supply Agreement and TGA approval timeline. The two setbacks were: 1. Diversion of 2.5 milion Pfizer doses to Europe where they were desperately needed. (offset so far by a a current deal with Poland shown below) 2. The unfortunate failure of the University of Queensland/CSL Geelong 51 million doses which had an impact on the delivery schedule. Total cost of the Agreements - $8 billion. On top of this: 1. Australia is spending $350 million supporting vaccine research and development. 2.Australia has supplied vaccines to Papua New Guinea and Pacific Islands. jackc Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 They better come up with a decent plan for people to show they are vaccinated, certificates on smart phones? No, many old people don’t have smart phones. On your MyGov account? I don’t have one of them. We should have a drivers licence type card OR, reissue updated medicare card with vaccination status completed, on the back etc. A piece of paper is a waste of time. This whole thing has been a shambles from the start……. 2

For the few who can't cope with technology there are special arrangements being advised regularly by the State Health Departments the go-to places for Covid or other health issues.

It’s not a case of not coping, its what the Govt should do as part of the overall scheme in this vaccination program. IF the Govt cant do it’s bit properly, then don’t give people a hard time over not being vaccinated. 1

They don’t care, then neither do I…… Not sure about Queensland but in Victoria now the QR login is as quick as I posted. No need to enter anything, and because we've had a couple of lockdowns and use the new software just about every building, parkbench or anything nailed down has a QR code. So if you walk into a shop and unbeknown to you the person before you was infected and infected the person at the counter, and you walk out infected, go to three other shops, fill up with fuel, then head for home, when the first infected person shows positive in a test the software instantly advises you and every facility you've visited and flags the shop Tier 1 or 2 in the Media, so you don't have to remember where you've been, you don't have to do anything except take a test, and they'll have caught you early enough that the infection shouldn't be too serious. The data you're giving through the QRCode only goes to the software on a continuous wash off basis, so only the few days data important for tracking is there. Thhis system allows quite big breakouts to be identified, a ring put around them and usually by a cople of weeks it's back to normal.

Flightrite Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 The QR code system reminds me of the bullshit Covid App the fools insisted everyone have, that died & you never hear of that anymore, just another stuff up by our inept Govt! I'm with you jackc I use the sheet provided most times as my writing won't always be too legible (is to me!) 1

In some cases you won't even know about it if you aren't at risk.

Queensland may well pick up the same software if there is a breakout, and it wouldn't surprise me if they weren't talking to the supplier right now because it means the difference between having to request hundreds of Defence troops vs reading the spread from the tracers' desks in order to trace the rate and direction of spread and reach the people directly involved rather than half the State. It has nothing whatsoever to do with States solving a Federal problem, or a war or for that matter a 3 month approval process.
