RFguy Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 These swivel ball ends live outside, and as do the slides. IE like elevator control on the jab, ball end exposed. I cannot find anything specific on lubrication. Indeed, anything sticky would attract and hold dust and dirt- completely unwanted ! Which leaves dry or self lubricants only as options, if indeed they are really required (or not) Graphite powder ? Or just leave them ? They have a long life by all accounts. Do the swivels use a self lubing nylon etc internally? same question I guess on the Rod End wiper seals ? -glen '
Kyle Communications Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 My Rans uses them for aileron control...I will see if I can find something in the manual about it
Thruster88 Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 I would not lubricate any off these. The ball ends will never wear out before the assembly should be replaced if left dry. The cable definitely should not be lubricated. Cleaning and checking the seals is important, if moisture enters the cable and you fly into freezing temps control lock could occur. It has happened. 1
