I often flick channels and it amazes how much utter crap there is on TV. I usually end up on the only three networks with worthwhile programs: NITV, SBS and ABC. 

Last night I was mesmerised by the arty Twelve Canoes on the Indig channel and then thoroughly enjoyed Claudia Carvan’s Books that Made Us on Auntie.

 

We are a lucky country to have such quality.

I'm trying new hearing aids which are very hightech. They do a lot of  tests and adjustments and even casts of your ears to make them to fit individually. I can now hear the squeeking airconditioer that has done about 75,000 hours.. Nev

All I  hear is a constant p-i-i-i-i-ing sound, together with a whooshing sound like strong wind, and occasionally buzzing like a swarm of blowflies. When people speak to me in a normal voice, I hear voice sounds but cannot distinguish what they are saying. Normal volume on my car radio is 5 - 7. I have to have it on 15 to hear what is said. I have hearing aids, but only the basic ones supplied free to pensioners. They are virtually worthless. I can hear all the creaks in the floor, but that's about it.

Australia Post delivered for me today 🙂 Ordered some AN hardware yesterday from Caboolture, sent in red satchel ordinary post and it arrived this morning Rockhampton 🙂  Send dead bodies ordinary post and they would still be warm when they arrived!!!

But not always. I made the mistake of thinking the postal service might just work so I purchased a pair of express post envelopes to post to Caulfield and back to Darraweit Guim. Cost $15.00 to get some papers signed. Sent 9am Monday 22 Nov. arrived at Caulfield Thurs 25 and posted back a few minutes later. As of today 2 Dec still no sight of mail. I could have walked there quicker. waste of money and time, the only thing about express is my frustration. Sorry  for the thread drift but roses for Aust post, more like cow droppings.

The police and the journalist are being rather coy. If you don't believe Lynn is a suspect in those four disappearances, then you believe in the tooth fairy. This situation has all the makings of a rather large book for a journalist to write.

What do you mean in relation to COVID BS?

Is COVID BS or the Australian approach to COVID BS or are vaccines BS or the policies relating to vaccines BS.

 

Just for context one of our neighbours has had cancer and the treatment has resulted in the significant compromise of her immune system. She's had her vaccination however she's very aware that if she gets COVID she'll probably die. She's said as much to her kids who luckily are at University age.

 

Now while I'm all up there for individual freedoms however in instances where the exercise of your "freedoms" will most likely result in the deaths of others like my neighbour, I believe that there should be consequences and limitations placed on those rights.

I also don't think think that the public should pick up the tab for medical expenses relating to the costs of treatments associated with preventable illness.

If there were vaccines for Syphilis and all those other things yes. You're less likely to get compensation in a vehicle accident if you weren't wearing a seat belt. Drive when your drunk and your insurance company won't pay.

Smokers and drinkers do pay significantly for their habit in terms of extra taxes?

As I said I'm all for allowing people to do dumb things however I'd like them to pay for it instead of externalizing the costs.

Be lucky to have chronic smokers and drinkers to pay for medical treatment needed because of their habit…….moist are broke and destitute, no money to pay for any medical treatment.  People would say they deserve what they get, but they are still human beings and deserve consideration for medical treatment.

Smoking is about the dumbest thing you can do to yourself and others. (secondary effect) I'm mortified when I think I used to smoke in the cockpit. It's one deep regret of my life.  The taxes on cigarettes , even  though high, don't pay the medical costs of the product to society..Nev

Having tried to live a healthy life, the only medication I take is for my early stage emphysema; I wasn’t a smoker, but have breathed in an awful lot of Other People’s.
