RFguy Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 (edited) I found this great primer on exhaust valve materials, and also a good treatment on surface treatments , and discussion of various compatibilities with leaded/unleaded fuel, seats, etc compatibility between valve stem metals and guide metals , temperature profiles, corrosion, a history of used metals , types of failures with pictures etc etc fascinating.... worthwhile going to the bottom of the document. all sorts of goodies. http://www.gsvalves.co.uk/assets/g-s-technical-infomation.pdf Edited December 13, 2021 by RFguy 1
walrus Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 this is the sort of in depth technical information China would love. It shouldn't be on the web.
walrus Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 Yes, super stuff. You are looking a the distillation of 60+ years work at the cutting edge of technology.
Student Pilot Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 This is a valve! Very tactile object.
facthunter Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 Time to consider you valves eh. ? That valve mob has been in the game a while. They will make one offs or large numbers. Many Race engines the valves are listed, BDA fords etc. Chromed or nitrided stems are almost mandatory with a compatible guide material. IF the stem "galls" at all the life is short and it could Jamb.(seize). Some of their exhaust valve stem running clearances are a touch on the tight side. Use engine makers spec's if greater.. Nev
