kgwilson Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 (edited) South Grafton Aerodrome is also flooded and all hangars have water in them. I have been busy with SES for the last 2 days but am dreading what I find when I am able to get back to my plane. I got the attached photo at lunch time and the water was till rising. Wow! sorry to hear about that KG. Crossing fingers that your aircraft will not be badly damaged. 2
facthunter Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 Flood submerged parts should be dismantled and thoroughly cleaned and dried as soon as possible. Silt and mud hosed out fully. . it's about stopping corrosion. Nev 1
kgwilson Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 The Clarence river was at 7.6 metres at Grafton. The levee height is 7.9 metres so 300mm to spare. Now at 7.5 metres so starting to subside. The water level on the aerodrome continues to rise but very gradually. There is a good half a metre of water & up to 1 metre in some hangars. The clubhouse is a metre off the ground and water is beginning to come up through the floor boards. The flood gates will only re-open when the flood level gets below 3 metres so the water will last for at least another couple of days. Before and after shots below. 1 4
RossK Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 Hoping for a miracle for you and your fellow flyers at South Grafton KG 🙏 3
Garfly Posted March 2, 2022 Posted March 2, 2022 This is a mate's Cherokee 6, just emerged from the swamp at Murwillumbah. And here it is in happier times; having fun with its friends at Armidale (NSW). 1 2

Hopping for you and your mates their all ok inside the hangars and the level subsides soon. Its not a nice feel of curiosity about how the aircraft are.
planedriver Posted March 2, 2022 Posted March 2, 2022 I was in the area just after the last flood and that was sad enough for me to see. Wishing all in the area good luck and hoping that things are a little better for those affected. At least my daughter-in-law is up the hill and away from it all, even if they can't get down into town.
graham brown Posted March 2, 2022 Posted March 2, 2022 Kevin, hope the Morgan is winched up to the roof in the hangar and all works out OK. Taree is high and dry but water as far as you can see off the ends of the runways. No where as bad as up your way.

This pic shows how the Taree airport is on ground somewhat higher than the river level and the hangars are a bit higher still than the runways. Last year's floods came up to cover the far (22) threshold. 1 3
