I've seen that before, but it's bloody impressive - especially as it was made in 1926 apparently.

Comment on the British Pathe site says the woman is a pilot, Gladys Ingle, also a member of "13 Black Cats" which apparently was a Hollywood daredevil group.

Lot of setting up and camera work there - there's plenty of close-up camera work of her on the wing, even one shot which looks like it was taken from near the tail of the Jenny, and this was well before Go-Pro.

The 13 Black Cats advertised they'd do anything by way of hair-raising aerial stunts, for a price. Possibly the one that took most watchers breaths away, was the stunt where Al Johnson and Ken "Fronty" Nichols set up a table and chairs on the top wing of a biplane, dressed as cowboys, and drinking and pretending to play a card game.

But then a quarrel over supposed "cheating" at the cards breaks out, guns are drawn, a "shoot-out" entails - and the loser is seen to fall from the aircraft. But unbeknowns to watchers on the ground, an unseen thin cable pops open the "losers" parachute, and he gently parachutes to the ground!

Gladys Ingle, amazingly, lived to the ripe age of 82, and also raised a family.

They talk about these daring blokes carrying their cojones around in a wheelbarrow - but those girls proved you don't really need huge cojones at all - you just need to make sure your nerves are like steel, and your grip is like a vice, and you never lose it!
