kiwiaviator Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 Does anyone know the usual location of the N.O Relay 40ADC PI3A054A0D (Item 16) in a J230C? It seems to be in the engine compartment however I am struggling to locate it.
RFguy Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 Mine was in the cabin . I moved it to the engine bay and using main battery isolator relay (which includes disconnecting the starter) Type SW60-360P, a contacter rated for the full starter current for a couple of minutes. from Farnell PN 1137938 and also rated for continuous operation in engine bay temperatures. https://au.element14.com/albright-engineers/sw60-360p/contactor-c-o-12vdc/dp/1137938?ost=1137938 Be sure to place a reverse diode across the coil so the turnoff does fry electronics. On the Jab schematic- this is called a crowbar - implemented with a TVS diode, as I have found in at least one other airplane this crowbar/diode inoeprable and blew up avionics on master relay switchoff. Across ALL relays : it must go with the banded end at the positive side . 1.5KE18A this is the A version, not the CA version. https://au.element14.com/stmicroelectronics/1-5ke18a/diode-tvs-1-5kw-18v/dp/9884831?st=1.5ke18a 1
