Does anyone know the usual location of the N.O Relay 40ADC PI3A054A0D (Item 16) in a J230C? It seems to be in the engine compartment however I am struggling to locate it.

Mine was in the cabin .  I moved it to the engine bay
and using main battery isolator relay (which includes disconnecting the starter)

Type  SW60-360P, a contacter rated for the full starter current for a couple of minutes. from Farnell PN 1137938

and also rated for continuous operation in engine bay temperatures.

Be sure to place a reverse diode across the coil so the turnoff does fry electronics. On the Jab schematic- this is called a crowbar - implemented with a TVS diode, as I have found in at least one other airplane this crowbar/diode inoeprable and blew up avionics on master relay switchoff.

Across ALL relays it must go with the  banded end at the positive side . 1.5KE18A   this is the A version, not the CA version.
