Thruster88 Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 Ausfly 22 is on 15-17 September. Last held in 2019 due covid, was a raging drought with dust storms and a mega summer of bush fires to follow. This year it will be perfect with green grass everywhere. Narromine is a great spot with excellent facilities. Hope to see many of you there. 1
KRviator Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 Not me. Rostered to work that weekend. If I am off, I might nip over on the Saturday with Mini-Me II, but I'll be winging it if we can go. Pardon the pun...😛
Old Koreelah Posted August 14, 2022 Posted August 14, 2022 Sorry I’ll be missing it. Travelling (if I can get the hang of my new hip in time).
propfarmer Posted August 14, 2022 Posted August 14, 2022 Will try to get there. Probably only Saturday, and in the Thruster if the weather is good! 1
TurbAero Posted August 15, 2022 Posted August 15, 2022 I’ll be there with mini-me as well, although with my mini-me being 196cm, I am actually the mini-me. I hate that! I believe that I am slotted to give a talk about our turbine engine development program. Please come and say G’day and I’ll try not to bore you to tears! Dave 2
old man emu Posted August 15, 2022 Posted August 15, 2022 Strewth! Coonabarabran on the 10/11th, then Narromine on the 15-17th. Will I ever be at home? If I get the bike behaving itself, I might ride it over there. Otherwise it's the car and a funny hat. 1
walrus Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 (edited) Weather forecast for getting to Ausfly not looking good at the moment. Edited September 7, 2022 by walrus 1

Yes friday 16 looks like rain over most of NSW, Saturday and Sunday look ok. Will have to reposition the aircraft, otherwise runway will look like this next Saturday morning🤔. Ground is so wet now 20mm makes a flood.
RFguy Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 Saturday will likely be OK I think remember, 8 days away this time of year, for predictions, is mostly over active computer imagination. 1

I was going to say my learned friend RFguy said this about the forecast a week out from Old Station. The weather for that over two states turned out perfect. Edited September 9, 2022 by Thruster88 1
RFguy Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 (edited) at the moment, the NAVGEM model ; the saturday 4am is nasty, saturday early morning is a bit wet , and is clearing at noon. and nice saturday evening the other model - GFS is saying similar.... but there is 170 hours between now and then and the weather moving 12 hours forward or backward will make a huge diffence. At the moment if flying I'd be saying travel after lunch Saturday, but that will change I am sure , once we are 3 days out we'll be putting money on it. There are plenty of different runways at Narromine if you dont like Xwind. Edited September 9, 2022 by RFguy 1
facthunter Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 It would be reasonable to say the weather has been a bit DIFFERENT lately. Frontal weather can be quite unsuitable for small aircraft and a WET countryside adds water to the atmosphere and raises the relative humidity, lowers the cloud base and increases the possibility of fog . Bruce Tuncks Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 I was planning to go but doubt that I will now... it's a long way from Edenhope.
RFguy Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 give it 5 years and global oil demand will be down 10%, oil will be $40 a barrel give it 10 years and global oil demand will be down 25%, oil will be at $25/barrel and gasoline flying will be cheap again. 1 1 1
walrus Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 weather still looks problematic - rain and 20+ knot headwinds, never mind the turbulence.
RFguy Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 previous 6 hours up till...: saturday 4am, saturday 10am, saturday 4pm, saturday 10pm, sunday 10am. wind barbs sat10am, sunday 10am. surface air speed (knots) :, sat 4am, sat 10am, sun 10am Summary, probably dry at, and north of Dubbo. crap in the south windy throughout.
Bruce Tuncks Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 SAorry, I wanted to fly from Edenhope on Friday. Don't think it is going to happen.
Bruce Tuncks Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 Just now, Bruce Tuncks said: Sorry, I wanted to fly from Edenhope on Friday. Don't think it is going to happen.
440032 Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 Driving up in the Mopar Thurs from VIC, probably in the rain all the way. Local report earlier today said blue sky there today but the wind was a little cool. My weather watchings in the last week - it's certainly improved from what was forecast. Hopefully it'll be OK. Bring jackets and spare shoes just in case. 1
RFguy Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 probably biggest issue is that the front will now go through on Saturday night. bring tie downs. which means crap saturday, sunday. I feel sorry for the organisers, but it is the way the aviation weather cookie crumbles.... see what tomorrow update looks like. 1
walrus Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 Windy.com says forget it if based in Victoria - rain, snow thunderstorm activity and 15 knot + headwinds. I’ve. been stuck in Dubbo for three days earlier this year and the western plains zoo has lost its charms. I did register and pay but unfortunately I’m a no show. I guess it’s doable from the North in something fast but from Victoria it’s a no go for me as at this moment.
walrus Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 Windy indicates slight improvement for Fridayas at Wed am.
RFguy Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 Thruster88 and I *might* go up for the day on Saturday only This will depend on the look of the GWPT chart on Friday evening.....and the sky on Saturday morning. GWPT - You all can still read these, can't you ?
