turboplanner Posted August 31, 2022 Posted August 31, 2022 Clem Newton-Brown was barrister in Planning, then Member of the Victorian Pariament for Prahran. Carribean Gardens was a 100 acre market garden. The owner on a trip to the US was impressed with the new fibreglass boats, came back and started building them, then built a lake and decided to create what we now know as a Theme Park. For him it was to be like Disneyland. Carribean Boats did very well in the 1960s, and there was a waterskiing Show like Cypress Gardens and the beginning of Sea World in Qld. Sadly that era of excitement passed and it became a Market and than that died. Scoresby is an Industrial area, so a few upmarket commercial buildings started to appear and it was announced recenctly that the precinct had closed and would be come an Industrial Estate. Sadly Victoria had lost the Carribean dream. The electric aircraft shown in the footage seems vaguely familiar to me, Clem started water taxis on the Yarra River a few years ago, but I can just hear Airservices as the air taxi takes off "Airways Clearance not available this time, orbit x, expects 30 minute delay."
