planedriver Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 Looks to me like it was probably an afterburner problem. 1
onetrack Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 Yes, that engine material, that is largely of Chinese origin today, is well known for not being able to meet the rigorous temperature requirements of high speed flight. They always fail to meet the specifications - largely due to cost-cutting, I believe. 1
Old Koreelah Posted October 27, 2022 Posted October 27, 2022 I believe Sabco stopped making these aircraft several years ago. If you can find one, it’s an import. 2
onetrack Posted October 27, 2022 Posted October 27, 2022 Yes, I believe Sabco came under intense scrutiny after a number of unexplained crashes of this model. Sabco protested that the model was being used outside its design parameters, and therefore they could not be held liable. CASA still have an ongoing investigation into the crashes, and the investigation should be formally completed around 31 Oct 2029. The delay is being caused by the need to question the head of a group originally based in Salem, that is believed to be the main user of the model. The group now appears to be global, thus complicating the questioning process. 1 2
facthunter Posted October 27, 2022 Posted October 27, 2022 CASA's have CEOs that bring in a new broom when a switch is made. A few of their flight tests included a gear up landing. Nev 1 1
BrendAn Posted October 27, 2022 Posted October 27, 2022 according to the manufacturer there is no problem, apparently if they are driven hard and maintained to sabco standards they are fine. poor maintenance and slow climb out will cause a lean condition overheating the rear straw past its specified limits. 2 1
BrendAn Posted October 27, 2022 Posted October 27, 2022 (edited) my mother in law also wears a jet pack in case of broom failure. although a dragon on a broom looks a bit odd anyway even without jet pack. Edited October 27, 2022 by BrendAn 1
Blueadventures Posted October 27, 2022 Posted October 27, 2022 Looks like the mother in law had been eating too many baked beans and the resultant gas purged has ignited:) 2

Mate, are we related? There's a bit of a coincidence there. Just wondering! Edited October 27, 2022 by planedriver 1 1
facthunter Posted October 27, 2022 Posted October 27, 2022 ALL of us have a common ancestor but the Tories won't accept anything common so I don't know where They come from. A different blood line. Nev 2
Yenn Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 That flying machine is way off the original design. Configuration is elongated rather than circular and it will obviously have a problem with offset thrust lines even if there is no fire. 2
440032 Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 (edited) Looks like CASA needs to bring in some sweeping reforms, this looks like a brush with death. Edited October 28, 2022 by 440032 5
facthunter Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 Just remember that the stereotypical Mother in Law is not Universal. I scored 2 good ones out of 2. Nev 3
old man emu Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 Looks like theModified Seine Stitches maintained integrity. 1

facthunter Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 That's got people in stitches, OME. Reminds me of the bloke who fell off a bridge in Paris and carried on as though he was In Seine. Nev 2
Ferris Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 ATSB have conducted a long, and exhaustive investigation, finally getting a handle on the problem. The owner had been overloading for years, and one final tight manoeuvre was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Due to political interference the matter has been swept under the carpet. 2 4
