slb Posted November 6, 2022 Author Posted November 6, 2022 May not be. Apart from not having a commercial license it is reported that this is the second fatal accident in the same place.
FlyBoy1960 Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 Could be because they are flying over the mountain that they suddenly get into huge up winds travelling up the mountain that exceed the G limits of the trike ? that's what it looks like to me and if it is the 2nd time at the same place it would reinforce that there is meteorological involvement
facthunter Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 Could be, but it looked as if it was pitched down so will gain speed. Structural failure it seemed. . Nev
onetrack Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 The trike appeared to almost do a forward roll, before the structural collapse - perhaps wind shear forced the wing downwards, and it just folded? They're not the most robust design for resisting negative wing loads, their Euler Critical Buckling Load is low, and you'd only need one top support cable to let go, and you're history. 1 2
facthunter Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 Weight shift and negative loads don't compute. Nev 2 3
facthunter Posted November 7, 2022 Posted November 7, 2022 Plus any lifting section moving through the air wants to rotate like a "Bullroarer". especially at low AoA's. Nev

I think that's a key component of Trike training isn't it? Bit hard to see as it was obscured, but looked like it started with a roll, perhaps for a vertical turn, and it tumbled. facthunter Posted November 7, 2022 Posted November 7, 2022 Realy depends on if any of that was intentional. I originally though so. Nev
turboplanner Posted November 7, 2022 Posted November 7, 2022 Trikes fly in a different way to conventional aircraft. Tumbling
