red750 Posted November 13, 2022 Posted November 13, 2022 I saw on TV a guy using a VR headset and gear to do a preflight walkaround of a 'virtual' Cessna 172. Are there any VR flight simulators that would allow you to 'fly' a VR light aircraft? It would be great for guys who can no longer fly (medical reasons, etc.,) to take a spin in the loungeroom in virtual reality. 1
pmccarthy Posted November 13, 2022 Posted November 13, 2022 I understand that the Microsoft flight simulator interfaces with a VR headset. My stepson has one and I tried it out, quite realistic. If you had a good set of pedals and stick it would be convincing. 1
mkennard Posted November 13, 2022 Posted November 13, 2022 I use X-Plane with HTC-Vive. Works well but it helps to have a more powerful PC to reduce stutters and make you sick. 2 1

spenaroo Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 I use the PlayStation system with Ace Combat. obviously more arcade then realism. But its pretty fun. and cool to have the head tracking when dogfighting 1
Jabiru7252 Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 I was playing about with VR when I was still working. Oculus Rift comes to mind. Anyway, I had to stop because I became quite nauseous. You can actually become car sick or airsick playing with that stuff. 1
LJS Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 If you have VR headset and Computer with a decent GPU to drive it ( I have an HP Reverb G2 driven by an RTX 3080Ti) and it is p[ossible to purchase modules thatg allow walk around inspections!
