kgwilson Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 It will be interesting to find out what the problem is. I wonder why that information has not been released. 1
Jerry_Atrick Posted February 11, 2023 Author Posted February 11, 2023 Something to do with props falling off the particular engine they use. 1
spacesailor Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 I looked a number of Sirrus out-landings and no mention of propeller , only failed engines . spacesailor
Kiwi Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 https://www.flyingmag.com/continental-engine-issue-drives-grounding-of-cirrus-sr22s-other-aircraft/ "call for a specific inspection of the crankshaft counterweight retaining ring within 5 hours for those new or rebuilt engines with less than 200 hours in operation since installation" 1
Jerry_Atrick Posted February 11, 2023 Author Posted February 11, 2023 Yes.. Would expect somthing to do with the crankshaft resulting in vibration (and ultimate failure), but the also have shaken their props off: (the same incident): https://forums.flyer.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=122713 And there are more of the same incident.. I guess I should check outside the forums! 1
