This post popped up on my Facebook today.

The Cessna Caravan has been officially certified for a ballistic recovery parachute.

I can now fly at ease knowing I have a parachute to bail me out of an engine failure, especially as I fly over mountainous terrain.

The kit and STC will be available this Summer!

No visible hatch to enable the chute to be deployed, and those external shroud attachment points would not work with a chute stowed inside the plane.  Looks like an April Fools joke to me.

I'm not a parachuting expert by any means, but that chute looks a little small for the weight of a Caravan too...

They'd have to get up early to fool us, eh!   (That last bit is Pure Queensland I'm multi lingual)  Nev

Daylight savings are over now, but for the past few month we have been getting up earlier than the banana-benders.

Since a Caravan is normally used for commercial work, and extra weight cuts into the payload.
A BRS big enough to carry one would be at least half the weight of one passenger.

Starting to get a bit chilly on a clear night now. I'm about 500 meters ASL so that makes it more .Nev
