How to hold nylocs from spinning

Hi, I am fixing my j230 from a taxying accident and I would like some tips on holding nyloc nuts from spinning when you try to undo the bolt.

My best guess is that gripping the nut with gripping "pliers" is the best you can do, but I would like a better idea.

Would cleaning around and scratching the surface around and use some epoxy or devcon etc to hold the nut.  An image of the location would be good or dill a hole into the side face and insert a rod to hold it 3, 3.5 or 4mm diameter say.

I'm guessing from the question that putting a spanner on the nut is not possible? But you didn't mention that.

If that's the case, I wonder how they were done up in the first place.

Bruce it is not clear what the problem is - if you can get pliers in there, then you can get a spanner in.  What are we missing?

yep, i dunno how they were done up to begin with. I reckon that the pliers won't fit any better than the spanner does.

Bruce, are you talking about self-clinching round nyloc nuts? If they start to turn in the sheeting, about the only thing you can do is split them with a nut splitter, and remove them and replace them with new ones that can be locked in securely.

The principle behind the self-clinching nuts is not a sound engineering principle, because the holding method only relies on thin sheet metal.
