As an aspiring aircraft owner, I’m interested in what current aircraft owners use for a maintenance log book ?

  • I use the RA-AUS Aircraft Maintenance Logbook
  • I use a hard/soft cover Aircraft Maintenance Logbook available from an aviation store/site
  • I made my own
  • I use a purpose-made App on my electronic device
  • Maintenance ? I changed the oil in 1997, or at least I think I did.

Thanks,

FP

On my last aircraft I used the RAA Maintenance/Flight Log Book, that came with the aircraft.

With my new aircraft I use two RAA Books - one for flight/airframe maintenance recording, the other for engine servicing/maintenance - I also have a propeller log book, supplied with the prop which, I hope, will receive very few entries.

The reason for the two RAA books is that it struck me that there is always the possibility that the engine may at some stage, be seperated (sold) from the airframe. Should this happen it would be appropriate for log books to go with it.

To inhibit  the Hummel-Bird motor .

IS a huge waste of my enjoyment , as my demise will mean it's trip to the ' scrapyard ' .

Such a wast with only one granddaughter ,with a love of flying .

Alas  , no way to pay those flying lessons cost . With two sons & a nursing career ,

Just started .

It's  ALWAYS your choice. ASHES to ashes and dust to dust and all that. You might last for longer than you think . There's a bit of an art in keeping old motors going. Not a lot of expense. Nev

A very economical  motor .

Two litrs engine oil . And 3 litrs fuel for 30 minutes flying . ( dreaming of " soaring like an eagle " ).

No tyre wear at all , disk  brakes hanging along side the undercarriage.  No wear there also. And less than 15 hours on the " New " motor .( very tight for the first 5/6 hours ). my dream machine  .

Tight for the first Five Hours? Maybe Dog works in mysterious ways after all? Nev

Hand-proping shows. Just how tight a motor is , even before putting the plugs in to fire it up .

The poh says 30 revolution's to make certain oil pressure is good . Then put the plugs in to go .  ' Hopefully '

It all went to plan . & my weight is getting good. 105 down to 86 kgms.

I can remember, on this site trying to help you, and another person who has a lot of experience offering to help you with the path to having the Hummel-Bird flying. Why didn't you take him up on it?

Health & weight . Plus I don't think I could ever get my certificate .

Now ' I'm older ' but healthier.  Weight down by 19 klgms & new hip .

So, one klgm to go before I could sit in the plane & have fuel in the tank .

Shortly I will have My driving licence taken away , without which I cannot have a RAA certificertificate .  ( age limits ).

Hmmmm ok, so the thread got hijacked pretty early.

No problem, it looks like the RA-Aus logbook was the winner.

Thank you to the respondents.

like skippy, i have one raaus logbook for airframe and a second for the engine, the sensenich prop has its own logbook too.  none of it was my doing , previous owners were very good at record keeping.

What do you write in the " Airframe '' Logbook.

Would I need to put an " accident " , were , while bolted onto trailer.

I pulled back the joystick,  ( motor running 3000 rpm ) ,

which lifted the motor off it's it's rest-bed .

Now have rear support to stop the take-off  " rotate " .

Plus , I have remove the joystick.

Your finger or you head.? GEEZ space   this is depressing . aero motors have to be able to take full power, first time. Friction takes away power and makes heat.  You are actually getting a lot out of your Plane . Nev

Not a lot of ' flying ' , but the cheapest form of ' flying ' . LoL

( a long time ago I asked Mr King to ' test fly ' my bird . NO takers ) .

I was taken by surprise when taking my bird for it's inspection .

Was told " not registrable " as the rules were changed .

I could have had it inspected , a couple of years earlier if  I was informed ,

( instead of flying the clubs traing aircraft )

About the rule change in time . OR I could have lied & had that " grandfathered " . clause work for me . My years of flight training . didn't pay off for me the way I expected .
