Best place to stop near Maroochydore

 

Hi,

 

I'm at Port Macquarie and have to go to a conference in Maroochydore next week. Can anyone advise where they think the best place would be to leave a Eurofox for a few days? At this stage I am planning on Caloundra unless anyone has a reason to go somewhere else??

 

Does anyone know of any temporary hangarage there?

Tie down cables on the GA apron at Maroochy and good terminal facilities, (food coffee). Try the Heli opertors, one offered me short term hangarage (sorry can't remember the name as didn't use it in the end) usual fee, good SA wine.

 

Security is a pain though. Pre organise to aviod delays.

 

TWR guys seem pretty good.

 

Or the golf course at Coolum if that's the venue, aviod the sand trap.

If you are PPL'ed you are good to go, simplest entry to the zone is fly up Bribie Island, listen to the ATIS and get the info, and around the top end/ Caloundra call them up on 124.4 and request a clearance.

 

ANd on first contact advise you are not familiar with the AD and they will take care of you, taxi instructions the lot.

 

Tower opens at 7.30am or there abouts so you can't easily sneek in before if you leave PMQ at daybreak!
