Guest Fred Bear Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Hello all. Looking at a Beaver RX 28 in this months magazine. It is located somewhere between Seymour and Benalla in VIC. Now what I am wondering is has anyone here had any experience with them? It has the 447 with 274 tt and last 100 hrly at 256 hrs. 324 airframe hours. The lady tells me it was her husbands and he passed on last year. He also had a Sapphire. I am thinking it is the gent that suffered the heart attack on the way to Narromine and went in. Anyway, what are they like to fly compared to say a Bantam? I don't think I would have too much trouble. Another thing, if I were to obtain address details, would someone be able to swing by and have a look on my behalf. I will be purchasing the trailer that comes with it too if all is in order. I know someone here will be able to help me. Thanks guys.
Guest Fred Bear Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 It is confirmed as Tony Witlox's old aircraft. It should be in fairly good order due to that fact. His wife just informed me.
Guest brentc Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 You beat me to it. Tony used to fly this aircraft from his home strip which was a little short for the Sapphire, to Mangalore from where he flew the Sapphire. It was probably more for the novelty factory than anything. From memory he acquired the aircraft from a deceased estate, however I may be wrong. I do recall him telling me about it. If you don't mind shelling out a bit of cash to have it looked at professionally, Ray Hill is in the area and would know the aircraft. He's a good L2 and former Regional Coordinator for RA-Aus. I can get you his details if you wish.

Brent, I won't have much cash to play with after the purchase so I was hoping someone from the forums may do a 'favour' and have a look or I will have to fly down (again) and drag someone with me to have a look. I have transport once I get to Melbourne so that should be ok. Not trying to sound like a tight donkey but need every bit of cash we have with the 2 kids, a plane, rent etc. You know...
Guest Fred Bear Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Does anyone know if the wings on this fold easily? Not in flight, but for transport If not, how hard would it be to design them so they do? Hanger space at The Oaks is the problem. I don't have too many options around here. Wedderburn is out of the question as I consider it too expensive and too dangerous for a rag and tube machine.
