WIngsWithoutBarriers
Has EAA always had ego/money hungry problem?
Red
I suspect not in the early years, but like any organisation as soon as it reaches the size where lots of middle management types are being hired then the chances of corporate bullshit and arse covering taking over skyrockets
facthunter
Some of these things get a life and impetus of their own and the opportunists move in and it's a big marketing event. The PLACE to BE if you have something new.. Could result in some "Impulse" buying. Nev
Deano747
Not unusual for catering companies (food vans) to come to an event on the basis that there are restrictions placed on the organisers regarding outside availability of food.
facthunter
Wot not a free market where competition gets the best value for the customer? Oh dear!. Nev
sfGnome
I got as far as the part where he had to run in with the EAA manager and figured that this is just another case of somebody getting their nose out of joint and now he hates EAA and airventure and everything else because somebody told him he couldn’t do what he wanted. I wonder how he’d go organising something this big?

onetrack
The best description of Dan Gryder I've seen recently, is "the Foghorn Leghorn of aviation". Bombastic, opinionated, brash, and quite prepared to unleash on anyone he targets, and causing great diviseness. Despite all his warnings and self-aggrandising safety advice, people still keep killing themselves in aircraft at alarming rates - and many of them, due to the same overconfidence that Dan exudes.
facthunter
It's all out there for people to attack or appreciate. It takes effort and runs risks which I'm sure he accepts. People posting here are not a lot different in Principle. They should be prepared to answer for what they print and do it all nicely. johnm
in some ways this web site is ground level discussion about things aviation in Australia - facts, opinions, hearsay etc. DG (Dan Gryder) puts it all out there and its a good way to get an idea of things happening in a HUGE aviation environment - USA. I enjoy his weekly broardcasted report If it's a 'chip on a shoulder' or fact ........... all humans suffer that flaw and most of us will recognise it 1 2
WIngsWithoutBarriers
If he's bit of a, what's the word? Hot headed brash idiot? Then I'll stay away from him. He felt a bit off to me and the attitude did not mesh with me as he felt like he was potentially compromising aero-nautical safety.
