Any clues on where to get custom engraved or enamel pilot wings badges done?

My aero club is wanting to award new pilots their wings once again.

I've found www.lukus.com.au can supply gold eagle wings, same as I received years ago, but there's barely any room for anything to be engraved on the tail feathers.

Wings are generally about 80mm wide, and won't have much real estate for anything, certainly not a full Timbuktoo Aero Club name or logo.

I'll be surprised if there aren't a few aero clubs getting custom enamelled stuff done. Wherezit coming from?

Standing by to hear - thank you!

Can't the North Koreans supply something suitable? They seem to have a great homespun industry, providing medals, wings, and other glittery adornments, all designed to impress!

The Chinese will knock up anything you want - the only problem being, they will want you to order a minimum of 10,000 badges at a time!

Alibaba.com offers a vast selection of fashion-toward pilot wings pin badge to accentuate plain outfits. Put a spin to any outfit by ordering pilot wings pin badge with messages to put out there.

Plenty of civilian pilots have earned  their wings the same as Military ones do. All collectable Motor cycle clubs have Badges as well as Aero clubs. With the metal ones it's better to take in to account the ease of enamelling the design from the outset. Nev

Few good ideas there, thanks. Case closed.

Naaa! Still looking for the chests to pin the wings on😈

Sorry if I offend - not big on "look at me" ostentatious displays - next it will uniforms, rank epaulets, etc - What's wrong with a nice certificate,  you can frame & hang on your wall at home?

It may be a tad hard for some to reolise, most of us are just amature/recreational pilots not "Top Guns"

That's irrelevant. If someone puts in the time and effort and qualifies as a pilot and the aero club wants to award wings to acknowledge that, then why not?

Nobody says you have to wear it or buy a uniform or epaulettes, unless you're planning to fly your weedhopper overseas in which case it's probably a good idea.

Why forgive?  Live and let live. IF someone's proud of an Aero Club badge, why not accept it? Nev

Well I’ve been awarded my wings by the RAAF many years ago & since then have flown for a number of airlines, EVERY AIRLINE pilot in the world has a set of wings to be worn as part of your uniform, as far as aero club’s as mentioned by fachunter I like the idea.

I don't think there's any sniggering needed if someone has studied up and learnt to fly, and has passed the tests to acquire a licence, it's something to be proud of, and I for one would not be sniggering at anyone wearing a set of wings that has been earned, I'd respect their effort and achievement. But if someone was wearing a set of wings that hasn't been earned, and they were just trying to impress - well, there's a name for that character deficiency.

As I say - each to their own.

Professional pilots, who wear military/civilian uniforms, with their wings, etc displayed - all good. Goes with the territory.

As a private/recreational pilot, I am proud of my flying achievements - don't need to display wings, any more than my truck & sundry other operators license - would look very odd indeed, on my everyday cloths and I would feel like a poser.

You won't & don't need to agree with me but I bet there are many others with a similar opinion/feeling - it's a cultural thing.

I do agree. I wouldn't wear wings either, even if I had them. But that's not what the original post was about.

Maybe an award of wings to put on your mantelpiece might be better. The club shows its respect for your achievement without tempting you to embarrass yourself.

I have always  worn my " Air Training Corps " badge with pride .

It has an 'eagle ' with 'wings' in it images.jpeg.98e82f63e4a90519dddb4bb46096a465.jpeg

Didn't get far through. " Medically unfit. " .
