skippydiesel Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Hi All - especially Forum members in the greater Rockhampton area (Qld). Looking for someone (or recommendation) to do a pre purchase inspection on an RAA all metal aircraft Rotax 912ULS.
skippydiesel Posted October 15 Author Posted October 15 There must be some Forum members in the greater Rockhampton area.

facthunter Posted October 16 Posted October 16 Some might see this as the "Condition" report.. People who are knowledgeable with the type might be the Best.. Nev
FlyingVizsla Posted October 16 Posted October 16 It needs someone who knows what they are looking at ... not many around. Maybe try one of the LAMEs at Rocky. If it is RAAus, it needs an L2 for the ACR. There are L2s at Rocky, The Caves, Wowan (Myles B) etc.
FlyingVizsla Posted October 16 Posted October 16 Its not worth getting an ACR because it has to be within 14 days of the sale, and if you are "just looking" it can be an added expense. But a L2 should have a good idea of the things to look for. Some will do it as a favour, but you should consider compensating them for their time, travel etc. Our ACR is becoming a long drawn out saga; needed a 100hrly, some work, before observing flight. A "bit of a look over" wouldn't carry the same obligations as ACR, and could be more candid than a tick-box list. Just be careful you don't enlist the owner's best mate to do the inspection. Where Old Mate vows & avers that it is the best plane ever, only to find it is a heap of junk after you bought it. That's why RAAus bought in the ACR. Good Luck. Childers is a bit far from Rocky otherwise we could take a Bo Peep.
skippydiesel Posted October 16 Author Posted October 16 FV - Thanks for all that. Would you have a contact name/phone number of a reputable person, professional (best) or amature (OK for a "bit of a look over" ). Rockhampton is a bit of a costly hike, from Sydney, if aircraft turns out to be a bit suss.

skippydiesel Posted October 20 Author Posted October 20 Thanks Gents - will take your suggestions on board 😈

FlyingVizsla Posted October 20 Posted October 20 Myles Breitkreutz (0418 198 016) is about 70km from Rocky. Myles has been with the AUF/RAAus for decades, on the Board for most of it and aircraft maintainer. He probably knows the plane & owner. Depends where in the "Greater" Rocky area it is located. He may be able to recommend someone closer to the plane.

Yeah! Last time I tried to use THE LIST a large percentage of the names had retired, even died, no longer "on the job" etc - gave up after many phone calls.

I think there is a couple of live ones on there.. they might need to update you reckon.
skippydiesel Posted October 21 Author Posted October 21 THE LIST may have been updated, in the 2-3 years since I tried to use it. 1
ClintonB Posted October 29 Posted October 29 I’m still fixing stuff to make my RAAus plane safe and airworthy even though it had one of these and a 100hr ( we flew it home 15 hrs, but lots of poor bushings, Suss bolts etc when got into it) a totally independent professional will save you money in the long run. 1

What are you working on?
ClintonB Posted October 29 Posted October 29 Bushbaby 500, I would like to get sorted in next few months, nearly finished moving my Business 250km East now and able to live at home instead of workshop. got recover of tailplane to go, change tyres to real ones (lawn mower tyres were straining axles in a SB) , then check SB's and see if any new ones exist. Hopefully a couple of good weekends of assembly and a test run of engine. I need a BFR now 2 years and no flying is bad for the soul. cheers 2 1
