lyle janke Posted October 20 Posted October 20 hi who has purchase this headset from clear prop Aircraft Pilots ANR-1 Bluetooth Headset are you pleased you up-graded ?? is it good value for quality of unit 1
RossK Posted October 21 Posted October 21 I bought one. I like buying stiff from Clear Prop where I can, as it supports this forum. Overall, works well, ANR works, Bluetooth works easily (when you read the instructions 🙃 , which are basic anyway, but do read them) Is it as good as the popular more expensive brands - no idea, I haven't tried them. Is it better that my DC H10-13.4 or my Clarity Aloft with BT set I've been using? Overall yes. The only minor issue I've had is that the volume that comes through when I speak seems low. I can hear other transmissions/passenger fine, just when I speak, the volume seems low. But I generally have some idea of what I'm saying (well, I hope so), so not really that much of a problem. 1

It is to do with the side tone from your radio or your Intercom. You should be able to adjust this and ideally you want to match it to the Intercom, the side tone and the received transmissions so that they are all balanced 1

External transmissions come through loud and clear, Passenger comms come through loud and clear, it's only my own transmission that come through with low volume when using this particular headset.
FlyBoy1960 Posted October 22 Posted October 22 it's going to relate back to the radio or Intercom that you have installed, this is what controls the side tone. Please give us more information about your particulate set up and we might be able to give you some direction, radio, intercom etc
sfGnome Posted October 22 Posted October 22 Don’t know if this helps (as it refers to a different headset), but my Lightspeed headset has a physical microphone volume preset control built in (somewhere, hidden under a little cover that I could tell you about if I looked up the manual again… 😛)

Please give us more information about your particulate set up and we might be able to give you some direction, radio, intercom etc Thanks, we got a Garmin SL60 Nav/Com as the Radio with a PS Eng PM 1000 Intercom. I've looked up the manual for the SL60 and can see how to change the Side Tone and Headset Volume from the settings. Will that affect the passenger volume though? If this is the only was to improve the volume, I can do that, but would have to change it and revert back to original settings every flight as the plane has 2 owners, and it seems to be only this headset that needs the adjustment.
FlyBoy1960 Posted October 22 Posted October 22 it won't make any change to the volume of the intercom it will only adjust the volume of the sound you hear when you are talking. You could just get used to it and leave it as it is or change it about halfway and hope the other owner doesn't notice 1

Back on topic - Overall, happy with the headset for the price. Edited October 23 by RossK
