red750 Posted November 8 Posted November 8 " Emergency services have responded to an incident this afternoon at Latrobe Regional Airport. A six-seater light passenger aircraft, carrying a pilot and passenger, made an emergency landing after experiencing a hydraulic failure in the landing gear. No injuries were reported. Airport operations promptly enacted the emergency response plan, and we extend our thanks to the emergency services for their quick response and support in managing the incident effectively." National Tribune. From the video on Seven News, the aircraft was a Cessna 337. 1 1
facthunter Posted November 8 Posted November 8 The Hi wing Cessnas with retracts have a very unusual and complex action. They have more drag with a part retraction than leaving the gear down. Having said that there is usually an emergency extension process.. Nev 1
BrendAn Posted November 8 Posted November 8 could not ask for a better pilot in that situation. his plane too.
Thruster88 Posted November 8 Posted November 8 If the hydraulic fluid is lost due to leak the manual backup on those is as useful as an ash tray on a motorbike. Gear cannot fall free. Cirrus got it right with fixed gear. 2
