I hate the way our laws have been brutalised so that somebody has to always be liable for things that go wrong. We all know he made a mistake and followed it up with some bad decisions but he's hardly likely to go out and repeat it.

I hope CASA's outcome mirrors what the pilot has already decided and done for his airmanship in the future.

Not the first time so it will be repeated. People must be accountable for their actions, especially where they have endangered others.

"The Civil Aviation Safety Authority has since filed a lawsuit against Mr Pullen in the Federal Court, arising from the incident at Bathurst on October 13, 2024, as well as previous incidents involving the pilot. It’s understood the court action is seeking more time for CASA to investigate “serious, wilful or repeated disregard of the aviation rules”."

It seems that CASA has impounded his aircraft too, so we'll see if his friends' claims that there was no damage to the aircraft, only bits of paint were seen flying off in the videos, are true.

It was a great demonstration of Bad airmanship on public display that put others lives at risk as well as his own,  Being so public as well, HOW can it be ignored?    Nev

Taking out the wall hitting bit it would still be viewed by most thinking pilots as a very risky stunt taking off over the crowd in the grand stand. Risk is about the chance of something happening and the consequences of that. Very low chance, very high consequence in this case. The ATSB report will be very interesting re approval etc.

that bloke on here when it happened said his mate. [the pilot]  had rang casa and they said it was all good. no drama hitting a wall with a control surface then flying off .

Small planes are not built so that you can hit things with them and just fly off as if nothing had happened over a crowd of people.  How does Paint fall off and nothing else happen? Be a great Paint job. Nev
