Hi all! New member from NSW so here's my introduction....

I'm Joe, I'm 39 and I live in Dubbo, NSW. My interest in aviation revolves mainly around rotary wing (helicopters) but I also have a interest in fixed wing aircraft as a passenger, not a pilot. My experiences include the following:

Rotary Wing: B206, R22 (PIC during a TIF), R44, R44 II, EC20 and AS50

Fixed Wing: DH8D, J32, E190, E145 and B738
LSA Aircraft: American Legend AL-18

In my spare time, you will find me often photographing aircraft - I also photograph cars, trucks, buses, motorbikes and other wheeled modes of transport. If there is anything you'd like to know, please feel free to ask and I will answer your questions! I don't bite....

Thanks, Bob! I'm looking at getting my RPL at some point as I have a flying school in front of my place...

Hi Joe,

Welcome to the forum.

The path to RPL is a 3-step process, and doing it in order below, will save you $$:

1. get your medical

2. study and pass the theory exam

3. do the flying

Most importantly, enjoy your journey !

Cheers!

You probably have the medical and all your relevant experience transfers to your new interest. CASA have lots of info on it on the web. As I see it the RPLicence is a distance restricted licence to fly VH planes.  RAAus planes operate on an  RPCertificate. To fly the RAAus Numbered aircraft, you must hold a RAAus certificate even if you Held a Ist ATPL or a Senior Commercial. Prior. I've never held an RPL. You might as well go straight to a PPL.  Nev
