NT5224 Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Reporting an aviation incident -of sorts. The Boy and I were on our afternoon stroll along the airstrip when I noticed a tree fallen down directly onto a airstrip marker Gable, crushing it.. What are the chances of that? I will remove the tree and fix the Gable. They are hand-me-downs from RAAF Tindal so have some heritage significance. Who knows….I might even find time to go flying some time? Alan 3 1
FlyBoy1960 Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Thats a reportable incident. CASA will send you the 68 page report to submit to them within 72 hours, failure to do so will become a matter of strict liability. 1 3
onetrack Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Do you understand there will also have to be a comprehensive tree danger audit, within the complete aerodrome boundaries? Every standing tree will require a full assessment, as to its particular danger to aviation and aviators! Just imagine, you could've easily been the first "falling timber" aerodrome fatality. The aerodrome rules will need to be re-written! 1
Area-51 Posted February 7 Posted February 7 ABC News report; news just in... "Tree falls on Cessna at private airstrip..." 3
planedriver Posted February 7 Posted February 7 CASA has responded that the Canberra Office which is always cold in winter which is only a few short months away, has expressed interest in the logs to prevent the usual brain freeze on their staff in the coming winter months, providing they have been well and truly seasoned and stored in accordance with LOGS4US under subsection 4US2C.🔥 1

FlyBoy1960 Posted February 11 Posted February 11 (edited) Nobody has mentioned the dog (off-leash) with evil intent in his eyes. Edited February 11 by FlyBoy1960 1

onetrack Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Possibly one too many dog leg-cocks on tree, and tree finally gave up? Dog looks pleased, must be a reason for that. 1
