Reporting an aviation incident -of sorts.

The Boy and I were on our afternoon stroll along the airstrip when I noticed a tree fallen down directly onto a airstrip marker Gable, crushing it.. What are the chances of that?

I will remove the tree and fix the Gable. They are hand-me-downs from RAAF Tindal  so have some heritage significance.

Who knows….I might even find time to go flying some time?

Thats a reportable incident.

CASA will send you the 68 page report to submit to them within 72 hours, failure to do so will become a matter of strict liability.

Do you understand there will also have to be a comprehensive tree danger audit, within the complete aerodrome boundaries? Every standing tree will require a full assessment, as to its particular danger to aviation and aviators!

Just imagine, you could've easily been the first "falling timber" aerodrome fatality. The aerodrome rules will need to be re-written!

CASA has responded that the Canberra Office which is always cold in winter which is only a few short months away, has expressed interest in the logs to prevent the usual brain freeze on their staff in the coming winter months, providing they have been well and truly seasoned and stored in accordance with LOGS4US under subsection 4US2C.🔥

Nobody has mentioned the dog (off-leash) with evil intent in his eyes.

Possibly one too many dog leg-cocks on tree, and tree finally gave up? Dog looks pleased, must be a reason for that.

"Smashed on my airstrip".

I immediately thought, don't ever forget 12hrs from bottle to the throttle even if camping under the wing?
