The Bering Air Caravan plane was reported 'overdue' when it failed to arrive in Nome about 4pm local time.

It was traveling from Unalakleet with nine passengers and one pilot on board.

Crews are frantically working to establish the plane's last coordinates, but weather conditions in the area are so poor that it has limited the ability to launch an air search.

The wreckage of the Caravan has been found and there are no survivors, the aircraft crashed onto sea ice and was totally destroyed.

Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Benjamin McIntyre-Coble is reported as saying, "(the aircraft was involved in) some kind of event which caused them to experience a rapid loss in elevation, and a rapid loss in speed. What that event is, I can't speculate to."

Winter in the Arctic, bad weather. Not conducive to good flying conditions and even if they had managed to survive with injuries the cold would limit survival time.

15 Fahr is not that cold.. Holding in FOG at that temp would have a fair chance of ICE accretion, (RHYME) and a high drag/low lift situation occurring and causing the accident..  Nev
