The drifter a mate needed sold had a 582 fully rebuilt by an excellent highly experienced guy with a great history of rebuilding two stroke rotax and many other engines, did not have the rotax authorisation so the interested buyer did not go ahead. Had receipts to $5k and all parts listed and emails to Wal about the parts and a fully completed runin sheet record completed. 100% perfect but no Rotax authorisation. It was 19 reg and the guy that bought it is having good fun and no issues. Also got advice the Floods Line maintenance course is 3 days and $1500 ($500 per day) for those that want to attend. Early April. Does completing the Floods course allow the owner to complete and sign off work he would not otherwise be authorized for?

Would reinforce Line maintenance skills and knowledge and enhance such I guess; I haven't seen the schedule but over three days should cover the Line Maintenance Manual tasks easily. I'm not doing it as their last day is the day I'm traveling (Fly or Drive weather dependant) to Bundaberg for their two day course. I would like to do a Rotax course sometime, reckon I would learn something; but I'm more interested in some heavy tasks. I have no interest at moment with the iS range or turbo variants just a simple carby man. Edited Wednesday at 09:58 PM by Blueadventures 1 1

Evektor Book.mp4 2.37 MB · 0 downloads They print A4 paper so an extra book only costs a few dollars extra. You known thats a EuroStar (EV97) POH right ? Dont you have an early model SportStar (EVSS)

Dont you have an early model SportStar (EVSS) You'd think so Burnie but look at the dates. The 97 must have another meaning because the Sportstar was not produced at that time. Mine serial number/date is 2004 0305 Edited Thursday at 05:32 AM by Moneybox
BurnieM Posted Thursday at 06:19 AM Posted Thursday at 06:19 AM I understood that the Sportstar was approved as an LSA in the US in 2005 but probably built earlier. I believe the Eurostar was a lighter weight and only sold in Europe. Evektor re-used the EV97 ICAO identifier on the Harmony.
BurnieM Posted Thursday at 07:50 AM Posted Thursday at 07:50 AM This may be useful; says Sportstar POH, Dec 10 2003, second edition. Looks like it has a single tank. https://www.skyviewultralights.ca/student-resources https://www.skyviewultralights.ca/_files/ugd/f9edee_eee78221340d4f549dc388370bb89005.pdf?index=true 1
BurnieM Posted Thursday at 08:49 AM Posted Thursday at 08:49 AM Actually says "Flight Manual for SportStar Ultraight Airplane" but has everything I would expect in a POH. 1
Moneybox Posted Friday at 09:17 AM Author Posted Friday at 09:17 AM That looks good Burnie but my book has been accepted because the data matches the plane so I'm happy enough with that for now. All approved by the workshop and LAME and submitted. RAAus said to expect a favourable response before the end of next week. 1
BurnieM Posted Friday at 09:30 AM Posted Friday at 09:30 AM If you put Evektor in as a manufacturer here you get the official ICAO type codes for their different models - https://www.icao.int/publications/DOC8643/Pages/Search.aspx You can see Evektor re-used the EV97 code on 2 different models but neither is the Sportstar The Sportstar is EVSS. While your manual may have been accepted by RAAus as valid it could cause legal problems later on. 1

You could compare the speed and other info and pencil any differences into your printed POH and consider the information in conjunction with your instructor and verify the stall speed etc during your flights. You'll have a nice POH then for sure. Good news rego is close. Cheers. 2
Moneybox Posted Friday at 11:30 AM Author Posted Friday at 11:30 AM I'm just feeling my way here. The guys over the last couple of days couldn't have been more helpful. The plane got a thorough going through and any flaws or discrepancies were delt with swiftly. It cost me a bit in pub meals and cartons of illicit substances but it was well worthwhile. I had no idea how much a carton of booze cost 🤣 2 1

Just ideas for your consideration. I know how busy you are and you have done well. Cheers. Thank you. I've just been back to the plane to cover the pitot. I forgot about it. I just got the ASI put back in before daylight faded. When connected to the calibrated test rig had a consistent difference of about 8 kt between 30 and 145 kts. It was a very simple fix by rotating the needle on its spindle. Now it's within one to two kts so I'm much happier with that. I did the carburettor balance with the mercury filled slack tube manometer. Peter (my LAME) brought his prop balancer and electronic carburettor balancer but didn't touch either. He said there was no way he was going to improve the way it was performing. I've been flicking through Burnie's document and as far as I can tell it's correct. I think the figures are all identical to my new book but it's a shortened version with the title Sportstar instead of Eurostar. Peter verified the weights, measures and performance figures so I'm happy to stick with the ($160 to print) book I have. I'll be sure to make corrections if any errors are found. 2
