Got mine today; looks to have some good reads.  Liked the Orion Cub article  Empty weight is a bit more than J230 but useable for the 600 category; 760 will be better for it.  Kit price listed is ok.

Your easily pleased -

No quality/independent commentary on flying characteristics

May have missed it but what engine/prop combination generated the minimal specifications?

No price delivered in AU from basic to top of the line.

In short, a light weight gushy article, short on the sort of detail a prospective purchasers would want to know.

A slight content  improvement on the last SP aircraft featured.

Pretty typical of the current editor😈

I give the editor double thumbs up; its produced on time, promotes aviation and provides content directed at members.  I'll provide an article about my upgrade for the Nynja models and its also available for the Swift variants; when I have completed the full process as yet to do a w&b and fly, etc for consideration of inclusion some time.

Our mag just arrived - I wondered what people were talking about, now I know.  Must be slower getting out to the boonies.

Mr FV is keen on the Orion Cub (our other home build is a RANS Courier S7 - another Cub style) and kept reading out bits to me.  Impressed with the Riblett aerofoil, $80k for basic kit (he's got an ancient 912 & old avionics) only need a prop.  Assume it is tandem. We'll need to build ANOTHER shed ..... Hope the wings are removable.

My Flight Safety mag also arrived with plenty to read there.

I am not a writer but if someone on this site wants to write a story on how this site has been helping aviators for over 20 years for the mag then I would be very grateful

This Forum is excellent - Unlike some other forms I am on:

  • Great feedback (for the most part)
  • Great debates, that rarely descend into personal attacks
  • Good people, nearly always willing to help, no matter the topic/question
  • Fantastic tangential departures (Thread Drift)

Enough  "gush" safe to say I regularly recomend The Forum to fellow pilots😈

I read into ians request is for someone to write a nice letter to the magazine editor saying how good this site is at promoting safe aviation and fostering aviation discussions.  Could you edit this post and send into the editor of Sport Pilot.

Jeez, just what we needed! An AI essay on aviation! Does it go on to say all crashed aircraft are normally Cessnas?

Brilliant. Add a bit about Ian as the founder and how he runs the whole thing out of the goodness of his heart, and you could ship that straight to RA-AUS.

I'm in the UK so can't comment on your magazine but if its any consolation ...

The BMAA are very good at the stuff that matters, but do insist on its members paying for a magazine that imo has always been of little interest

I know the arguement about it being up to the members to make content, but Id rather have some professional tech content not the usual member's account of their last trip to wherever.

(to me Its like someone insisting showing their holiday snaps ...zzzz)

I am after all paying for it.

It gets a quick skim then in the bin it goes. Really wastefull

I have no idea if my view is representative, but its mine🙃
