FrankPilot Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Come see the exciting, but sad, history of the Bede BD5J jet aircraft featured in the James Bond “Octopussy” movie. If you have enough money to purchase the kit, & time & expertise to build it, you can still get yourself a modern, improved version! Hope you enjoy. Cheers. 2

FrankPilot Posted Sunday at 01:01 AM Author Posted Sunday at 01:01 AM There do not appear to be any on the Australian aircraft register. One crashed and was destroyed in WA around 2007 - maybe the last in Oz? Cheers.
facthunter Posted Sunday at 02:03 AM Posted Sunday at 02:03 AM I'm sure I saw one in action at Avalon? one time. They don't stay in the Air long. Nev 1

Methusala Posted Monday at 07:12 AM Posted Monday at 07:12 AM (edited) There were 2 in Oz back in the 90s's. Quentin's and another. Both shown at Tuggeranong Hyperdome "Big Boy's Toys" show. Don't know what happened to the other. Quentin's used the wing from a Smyth Sidewinder which he was also building at the time. He sold the partially complete Sidewinder into Queensland I believe. Colourful character was Quentin! Edited Monday at 07:16 AM by Methusala Adds 1 1 1

rgmwa Posted Tuesday at 01:52 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:52 PM Did she ever fly it and where is it now? There's a jet powered Cri Cri at our airfield. Not as pretty as the BD5 but unique in it's own right. 1 1
T510 Posted Wednesday at 06:08 AM Posted Wednesday at 06:08 AM I always lusted after a BD5 as a kid, as a 6"2 adult there is no way I could fit in one 1
facthunter Posted yesterday at 12:36 AM Posted yesterday at 12:36 AM One advantage of having flown ultralights is you stop complaining how difficult some cars are to get into.. Did I tell you about the LOTUS I saw (and Heard) the other day. Now THAT is Lust. Nev 1 1
