Marty_d Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Not a good look for CASA. Approving a flight which they knew was going to land on the racetrack when the only possible direction to land in took the plane into a no fly area. 1
Thruster88 Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Well that answers the question I had at the time, "how did this get approved ". The performance of the responsible casa FOI was somewhat lacking. 1

They missed a bit of detail, bit like the current RAAus matter. Things happen, shouldn't but do. Very lucky the 300 didn't have a flight control failure and plough into the spectators. 1 3

IF he did not ruffle the tail feathers, and have an incident, the no fly zone violation probably would not have come to light at all. 1

RossK Posted April 10 Posted April 10 The interesting bit from that report is that he was informed of the hit and damage by another pilot, and still chose not to do a visual inspection😮 1 1 1
facthunter Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Most people wouldn't get the significance of the tailplane damage. Pretty (hairy) show all-round . Nev 1 2 1
onetrack Posted Thursday at 11:54 PM Posted Thursday at 11:54 PM Even the slightest level of damage to an aircraft needs inspection. Not a pilot I'd fly with. 3
